00:00:14: so it's energy markets obviously.

00:00:16: Yeah It is infotainment.

00:00:18: that how I always describe because i think u have at least one take away per episode and also entertaining.

00:00:28: we hope its understandable people understand what were saying.

00:00:33: Yeah, that's always our benchmark as well.

00:00:37: You know I for example always take my parents or my son has a benchmark.

00:00:40: so i test the material at home and if they understand it think we do a lot right.

00:00:49: is also fun.

00:00:50: The topics are not always funny So thats clear but we have alot of fun producing them.

00:00:57: I think it's really interesting, so how was Yumi created?

00:01:00: Well that is a long time ago.

00:01:01: That

00:01:03: goes back to two thousand eighteen i believe.

00:01:07: So quite some time and we were both standing in front of the White House Back then.

00:01:20: Hi Florent!

00:01:20: Oh true, yeah that was the World Guest Conference in Washington DC.

00:01:26: That was an amazing experience.

00:01:28: there also a football world championship going on at the same time which was less of an experience as least from a German perspective but the conference and this interview with that was great

00:01:42: And from there on, we had an internal format and we continued that.

00:01:47: Of course it was Covid then... ...and basically me standing in my apartment used to be in your room….

00:01:54: …and we were face-taming!

00:01:56: You had that potted plant at the corner?

00:01:58: Yes,

00:01:58: banana plants – yes, a famous banana plant!

00:02:03: It still exists but I remember even one time built like a set, like Jimmy Fallon and had Gregor as his screen in my apartment.

00:02:14: From there on somebody asked us how about doing this externally?

00:02:19: We said yes!

00:02:20: And that's why we moved into the studio.

00:02:23: Never look back so far.

00:02:25: What is your

00:02:28: background?

00:02:28: Yeah I'm originally a physicist So i studied physics Not alot.

00:02:33: what do every day has to with physics anymore?

00:02:37: But then I joined Ninety-Four, the energy industry and worked for companies called Rurgas, Eon & Now Unipar.

00:02:44: Did quite different things from gas portfolio optimization to strategy projects

00:02:51: etc.,

00:02:51: And finally market analytics – this is why we came in contact with the idea of producing the Yumi.

00:02:59: Exactly.

00:03:00: Yeah, and for me it's a little bit different.

00:03:02: hotel is my original background And I use that to travel the world a little but then work in different places.

00:03:09: yeah Then around twenty years ago i started here with EON Energy Trading Started in relocation That's an HR part trading for three years, gas and power portfolios as well.

00:03:21: And then ended up in comps because they were looking somebody to report on energy markets... Here we are!

00:03:27: ...and that's what I'm doing.

00:03:28: since exactly

00:03:29: Okay you speak about many topics.

00:03:32: Are there or is the favorite topic?

00:03:35: For me it's geopolitics.

00:03:37: It not beacause themes always nice Very difficult very often but its relevant and affects all of us And this is why I think it's very important that we cover that in our format.

00:03:50: One thing you always mention as well, We have kind of a responsibility for the energy company and also society which i think is really important to highlight.

00:04:01: My personal ones are weather and LNG because similar with Gregor's view It has global setup.

00:04:07: so its interesting.

00:04:09: what

00:04:10: is special about the Gregor Florendu?

00:04:14: That´s good one!

00:04:16: trying to do this in a very interactive way, and I think it's simply the chemistry works.

00:04:21: I

00:04:21: have to say you know It's good to have somebody like Gregor.

00:04:26: We usually record one episode for around fifteen minutes But we use double-the time because we're cracking jokes here.

00:04:33: So its really cool atmosphere And i'm sure that if...I won't do that but If would call Gregor at two AM In the morning and ask him an energy related question He would answer it, by the way.

00:04:46: So... It's a really special relationship I'd say
